Jurisdiction:
The Court of Int'l Trade deals with the complex problems arising from international trade litigation, offering judicial review of civil actions involving import transactions and federal transactions affecting international trade. The court is rooted in the mandate of Article I, Sec. 8 of the U.S. Constitution that "all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.” The court hears appeals of unfair trade practice cases involving antidumping and countervailing duty issues from the Department of Commerce and International Trade Commission. The judges are appointed for life by the President, subject to Senate confirmation. Appeals are to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
