Jurisdiction:
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, formerly known as the Court of Military Appeals, consists of five civilian judges appointed by the President for 15-year terms, subject to Senate confirmation. The court exercises appellate review of court-martial convictions. Its decisions prior to 1984 were final, but now are subject to Supreme Court review.
