Vacca, Meredith A.
   Western District of New York. Nominated 5/14/24.

Judge Meredith Vacca has been a judge on the Monroe County Court since 2021 and an Acting Justice on the New York State Supreme Court since 2023. Judge Vacca previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office in Rochester, N.Y., from 2007 to 2020. From 2005 to 2007, she worked as an associate at the law firm of Hamberger & Weiss.

Judge Vacca received her J.D. from the University of Buffalo School of Law in 2005 and her B.A. from Colgate University in 2002.

Vargus, Jeannette
   Southern District of New York. Nominated 3/21/24.

Jeannette Vargas has been an Assistant U.S.  Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York since 2002. She has served as Deputy Chief in the Civil Division of that office since 2016 and was previously Senior Trial Counsel from 2014 to 2016 and Chief of the Tax and Bankruptcy Unit from 2010 to 2014. Before that, Ms. Vargas worked as an associate at Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett from 2000 to 2001. In between private practice and joining the U.S. Attorney’s office, she served as a law clerk for Judge Sonia Sotomayor on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 2001 to 2002.

Ms. Vargas received her J.D. from Yale Law School in 2000 and her A.B, magna cum laude, from Harvard College in 1995.

Vera, Hernán D.

Judge Hernán Vera has served as a judge on the Los Angeles County Superior Court since 2020.  He previously worked as a principal at the law firm of Bird Marella from 2015 to 2020.  From 2002 to 2014, Judge Vera worked for Public Counsel, the largest pro bono public interest law firm in the nation, first as a directing attorney and later as president and CEO.  From 1997 to 2002 and 1994 to 1995, Judge Vera worked as an associate and counsel at O’Melveny & Myers.  Prior experience included his work as a staff attorney for the Mexican American Legal Defense & Educational Fund from 1996 to 1997.  Judge Vera served as a law clerk for Judge Consuelo B. Marshall on the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California from 1995 to 1996. 

Judge Vera received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 1994 and his B.A., with distinction, from Stanford University in 1991.

Walker, Jamar K.

Jamar Walker has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia since 2015. From 2012 to 2015, Mr. Walker was an associate at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. He served as a law clerk for Judge Raymond A. Jackson on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2011 to 2012.

Mr. Walker received his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 2008 and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2011.

Wamble, Jabari

Jabari Wamble has been an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas since 2011. From 2007 to 2011, Mr. Wamble served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Kansas Attorney General. From 2006 to 2007, he was an Assistant District Attorney for the Johnson County (Kansas) District Attorney’s Office.

Mr. Wamble received his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2006 and his B.S. from the University of Kansas in 2002.

Wang, Lisa

Lisa Wang has served as the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Enforcement and Compliance in the U.S. Department of Commerce since 2022. Previously, Ms. Wang was a partner at Picard, Kentz and Rowe from 2016 to 2021. Ms. Wang was also a Senior Attorney in the Office of the Chief Counsel for Trade Enforcement and Compliance in the U.S. Department of Commerce from 2014 to 2016, and an Assistant General Counsel in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative from 2012 to 2014. Before that, she was the Senior Import Administration Officer for the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China, from 2009 to 2012 and an associate with Dewey and LeBoeuf from 2006 to 2009.

Ms. Wang received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2006 and her B.S. from Cornell University in 2002.

White, Robert J.

Robert White has been an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan since 2018. Previously, Mr. White served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas from 2014 to 2018. Before that, he worked as an Associate Attorney at Ralph E. Meczyk & Associates from 2010 to 2014.

Mr. White received his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2010 and his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 2007.

Whitehead, Jamal

Jamal Whitehead is a shareholder at Schroeter Goldmark & Bender in Seattle, Wash., where he has worked since 2016.  From 2014 to 2016, Mr. Whitehead served an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington. From 2010 to 2014, he was a Senior Trial Attorney in the Seattle Field Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  From 2007 to 2010, Mr. Whitehead worked as an associate at Garvey Schubert Barer (now Foster Garvey) in Seattle, Wash. 

Mr. Whitehead received his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2007 and his B.A. from the University of Washington in 2004.

Yoon, Jasmine H.

Jasmine Yoon has been the Vice President of Corporate Integrity, Ethics & Investigations at Capital One Financial Corporation since 2022. Previously, Ms. Yoon worked as Interim University Counsel and Associate University Counsel at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville from 2019 to 2022. Prior to that, Ms. Yoon served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2010 to 2016. Ms. Yoon was also an associate at Crowell & Moring in Washington, D.C. from 2006 to 2009, working in its White Collar and Regulatory Enforcement group. She served as a law clerk for Judge James C. Cacheris on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2009 to 2010.

Ms. Yoon received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2006 and her B.A. from the University of Virginia in 2003.
